I'd start with sky blue, then nix that because it's too cliche. It would also depend on the setting of the story and the background of the POV character. That one could end up as anything from aquamarine to blue as the Caribbean sea. (Having now been in the Caribbean, it really can be that color!)

Excellent exercise, Rita!

Another challenge is to describe the fabric itself in conjunction with the color. The first dress would be burgundy velvet. The last one appears to be silk, based on the sheen of it. That also opens up a whole new world of possibilities for describing clothes.Rachel Leigh Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16004728242824462126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3592240343467905804.post-59915949980062672752011-03-10T12:52:17.265-05:002011-03-10T12:52:17.265-05:00I like some of the words that are already chosen. ...I like some of the words that are already chosen.
But how about Apricot for the orange, and Porcelain Blue, Kohl is a favorite of mine.Christine Lindsayhttp://www.christinelindsay.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3592240343467905804.post-66443058245669331672011-03-10T12:35:23.172-05:002011-03-10T12:35:23.172-05:001) Cranberry
